It's a shame that the series has been trapped in a cycle of remakes, then again the games and their stories are nearly perfect. I haven't played the demo, but from what I've seen it's the best looking rendition thus far. As long as the mechanics work fine, unlike the DS versions, I think this might be the best version. My biggest anxiety will be whether or not the script will be up to snuff and stay funny.

President Camacho: Sh*t. I know sh*t's bad right now, with all that starving bullsh*t, and the dust storms, and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings. But I got a solution.

I've honestly never played Lunar 2 and I'm not sure I want to; what little I know of the plot makes it sound like another Chrono Cross where they completely rape the perfectly good ending of the first game in order to make a sequel loosely-based on the prior events.

That being said, Lunar 1 is a freakin masterpiece of a game with a very colorful cast and some downright legendary comic relief. Honestly the game itself is a rather standard RPG, it's really the story and especially the jokes that put it over the top. And god damn do I love Jessica & Kyle. They're like Sango and Miroku; decent characters in their own right, but put them in a scene together and watch fireworks (and other assorted projectiles) fly! Textbook example of excellent character chemistry, and in fact they'd probably be decent CCA characters, too.

Now Lunar 2: Eternal Blue goes back to the Sega Saturn days, so it benefitted from people connected to the original game (at least probably moreso than Dragon Song and the DS remake of Silver Star). The PS1 version of Eternal Blue I played and it is both a good continuation and a solid stand alone story, which I think are the essential features of a great sequel. How they get the ball rolling is a little... rushed, but once things get moving it's very good. I think overall you'd be content with how they treated the original story and it repercussions.

The cast in Lunar would make solid additions, the only limitations would be materials that would be useable. As long as we're suggesting cast members: Ruby, might work but might not. Her type of character might not stand out too much among the current cast. However, Leo and his alter ego Mystere would be decent fodder for comedy.
